UNIFEM CAMPAIGN 100/100
The 100/100 campaign is aimed at building a robust financial base for UNIFEM to allow the organization to meet the increasing demand for its programmes and fulfill its commitments towards achieving gender equality and women's empowerment worlwide.
The 100/100 campaign is aimed at building a robust financial base for UNIFEM to allow the organization to meet the increasing demand for its programmes and fulfill its commitments towards achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide.
With the goal of reaching 100 Member States contributing in total US$100 million by 2011 (100/100 campaign), UNIFEM focused its efforts in 2008 on inviting governments to become first-time donors. Many governments responded with a message of support by pledging financial contributions.

UNIFEM is pleased to announce the first call for proposals for the Fund for Gender Equality, a multi-donor initiative dedicated to the advancement of high-impact gender equality programmes that focus on women’s economic and/or political empowerment at local and national levels.

SECRETARY GENERAL CAMPAIGN UNITE TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
In February 2008, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched his campaign, “UNite to End Violence against Women,” a multi-year effort aimed at preventing and eliminating violence against women and girls in all parts of the world.

Violence against women not only constitutes a gross violation of human rights but also has enormous social and economic costs, and undercuts the contribution of women to development, peace and security. It poses a serious threat to the achievement of internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals.

UNIFEM’s Say NO initiative is a global platform for advocacy and action, engaging participants from all walks of life to prevent and address violence against women. It contributes towards the objectives of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s campaign, UNiTE to End Violence against Women, through social mobilization. Progress of the World’s Women
The 2008/2009 edition of UNIFEM’s flagship report focuses on five key areas where the need to strengthen accountability to women is urgent: politics and governance, access to public services, economic opportunities, justice, and the distribution of international assistance for development and security.
